Internet Connectivity Update

For those of you interested in learning more about how to utilize and manage Chromebooks in the classroom, there is Chromebook Institute conference being held in North Canton at Hoover High School October 24 through the 26th. This two-day immersive conference experience focuses on learning and implementing Chromebooks, Google Apps for Education, Google Play for Edu tablets, and the entire Google ecosystem into your school environment. Lightspeed Redesign

In an effort to look forward and eliminate any possible issues with internet connectivity and filtering, NEOnet is working closely with Lightspeed to redesign our implementation and prepare for increased bandwidth utilization and growth as a consortium.  The new design will allow for multiple Rockets to be installed and load balanced to support the additional throughput required, while at the same time introducing redundancy at the appliance level.  This N+1 design would allow for continued service while maintaining the same level of service in the even an appliance fails.  The increase in policy processing power will also improve the overall performance of the filtering experience, allowing for faster loading of pages.  This new design will go for approval in November and for implementation to being in December.  We will follow up with an implementation timeframe and more details after the purchase of the new equipment.  If you have any questions or comments, please don’t hesitate to email zolla[at]neonet[dot]org.
