One Call Now
NEOnet has officially partnered with One Call Now in an effort to increase communication with our customers in the event of a service affecting emergency. Previously we have been using Email and Twitter, and while we will maintain these two methods of communication, One Call Now will allow us to offer increased communication to the key individuals at the district level. Through One Call Now’s texting feature, we will be able to send updates to anyone who wishes to sign up for alerts. The self- subscribing web interface will allow our users to opt in on notifications as well as update their contact information in the event it changes. We think this will bring some much needed real time notification to the end users who are affected by service outages. Details on how to access the web interface for enrollment will be sent out next month.
DNS and Server Changes
At our last Technology Advisory Committee meetings, we set a date to eliminate the legacy 126.96.36.199 network here at NEOnet. We have officially moved all services off that network with the exception of the financial server and the old DNS servers which are staying in place until Friday October 26th 2012 at 5:00pm. At that time we will change the IP address of the financial server and shutoff the old DNS servers. New DNS servers were provided in the beginning of the summer for districts to migrate to so this migration should be completed as soon as possible. As previously discussed, all financial applications should be point to the hostname of neonet.k12.oh.us. This includes any Reflections clients and ODBC connections for Safari ODBC access. Wireless NCS Training
This summer brought additional customers to the NEOnet hosted wireless solution, as well as some much anticipated upgrades to the software. The upgrade from WCS to NCS was one of those upgrades. NCS is an updated version of the software that can allow districts to manage certain aspects of their hosted wireless solution. NEOnet will be offering two, NCS two hour training sessions for our customers on Thursday October 25th at 9:00am as well as Wednesday October 31st at 9:00am. We are offering the same training on two different dates to accommodate scheduling conflicts.
