DASL (Student Information) Update
Why is there data missing in the filter dropdowns of my attendance Ad Hoc Reports?

This is the most common question the DASL team is getting this year, so we hope to shed some light for you. The current way the attendance Ad Hoc reports work is the filters will only show values to pick when students qualify for that particular report. Common Examples include:  When running the Absence Threshold Summary report, my building is not there to choose! Answer: Your building has not had any students meet a threshold this school year. Your building will appear as on option once a student has met a HB410 threshold. When running the Attendance Process Warnings report, only shows Active student status' list in the dropdown! Answer: The current students who have a Process Warning at your building are Active status students.

We know this makes it difficult to schedule reports for automatic email delivery. Our suggestion is to at the beginning of the school year often check your Scheduled Reports filters for changes that can be applied.

DataMap:

Welcome back to the 2019-2020 school year!

A couple quick reminders:

  • STAR Renaissance has changed their file layout.  Please go to the NEOnet website > Services > DataMap > Documentation > Assessment Instructions: https://portal.neonet.org/documents/509 to find the new instructions on how export the data and modify the layout to load the STAR data in DataMap.

  • OST Summer assessment data became available to download and load in StudentInformation/DASL on August 15th .  Once the data is loaded in StudentInformation, please remember to load in DataMap.

  • ACT many students may have taken the ACT in the summer and many have started to take the ACT this school year.  Please reload your 18/19 ACT data and load the new 19/20 data.

  • AP data many times is updated during the summer.  Please remember to load your 18/19 AP data in DataMap.

We have scheduled our first DataMap Roundtable Meeting for the 2019-2020 school year for Wednesday, September 25th from 12:30pm – 1:30pm.  If you plan to attend please register using our calendar link at the top of the monthly update.

EMIS Update:
ODE has released a new version of the data collector. One of the new features include “The Message Center”.

The Message Center provides a way for ODE to publish messages for all users, a specific organization type (e.g. community schools or school districts) or a specific LEA. When logging into the Data Collector the published messages appear at the top of the first page. The Message Center will be used to communicate information of general interest to all users, such as new versions of collection requests, new reports, and closing reminders. These messages are visible to all staff who have access to the Data Collector. Unread messages are highlighted. Each message has a time frame, during which it appears in the message center and you can hide this message once you have read it.

To open a browser tab with general information on the new features in this version of the Data Collector Click here.  There will be additional resources for this new version released in the coming months.

ProgressBook GradeBook Update
Have No Fear! The ability to fill a column with a selected mark did not go away.  Clear Column is also available. Clicking on the first mark box in a column, right clicking will bring up a box with fill column as an option.  This is feature is available on the GradeBook Grid and the marks entry page of an assignment.

Special Services Update

19.0 Refresh Update:

This August 2019, we migrated our pilot districts; Coventry, Cuyahoga Heights and Maplewood Career Center to the Sps Refresh 19.0 software.   The security was setup in Student Information and the staff Self- Assign their caseloads.  With any pilot, there have been many hiccups, but we are working through issues, with many to be resolved with the 19.2 update later this month.  We are planning to move two (2) districts in October and three (3) in November.  The migration plan will be discussed in our September meeting.

That meeting will be held on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Immediately following the Special Services Meeting, an EMIS & Sps Working Together session will be offered. ODE guest speaker Kaellen Kraft will join us via Webinar. We ask that you sign up for both using the links at the top of this monthly update.
