Technology Transformation Committee

On September 22nd attendees from thirteen districts met at NEOnet to discuss the new technology integration program at NEOnet. The program has been named the Technology Transformation Committee and will concentrate on providing professional development and support on integrating instuctional technology into the classroom. The committee will be meeting monthly in order to guide the creation of the foundation on which new program will be built. So that a course catalog can be created that best fits the needs of the school districts we will be sending out a survey to determine the immediate needs of NEOnet school districts. We are also in the process of drafting a project plan on how the program will operate. One model that is being discussed is that districts will subscribe to the program and in return receive a specified number of on-site customized professional development workshops and professional development workshops held at NEOnet.

Library Server

The library automation software was migrated to a new server. Thank you very much for your patience and working with us to find the best date to move your district. The migration went as planned and everyone is back up and running just as they were on the old server.

ISearch Update and ISearch Local Release Timeline

INFOhio has rolled out an update for ISearch (http://isearch.infohio.org) and ISearch local.  The cleaner, more simplified interface of the discovery layer search is the most noticeable change.

Other updates include:

  • All tabs display in a single row without the need to "tab down" to research resources.
  • Users with a My Library tab can save items from multiple databases and tabs to a single saved list.
  • Users can access the full text of an item more easily with additional information in lists.
  • Users can access HTML full text articles within ISearch by clicking the article title.
  • Users have fewer clicks to access eBooks that are part of INFOhio's Gutenberg eBook collection.
  • Direct upload to cloud or Google Classroom is available for most articles from EBSCO.

INFOhio currently plans on all instances of ISearch local, which incorporates the school online catalog into the search,  being set up and available by October 1st. NEOnet will be sharing district links via email as soon as they are available.  Training materials, lesson plans and additional support can be found at http://libguides.infohio.org/isearch/

INFOhio resources statewide username/password change, custom passwords still valid

On July 29th, INFOhio changed the statewide username and password needed to access resources outside the school setting.  Any districts or staff who currently use that log in may contact NEOnet Library Services for the new information.

Fortunately, all of NEOnet’s districts have already created custom usernames/passwords which did NOT change. Staff and students can find their custom log on information at https://www.infohio.org/students/er/find-my-password by answering a few simple questions.  NEOnet library services staff can also provide the information.

INFOhio requests that teachers/staff not share the statewide or custom log in on the open web, as the resources are licensed for Ohio citizens only. Posters and bookmarks with both the statewide and custom log in information are available at https://www.infohio.org/educators/library/toolkit/bookmarks-posters for promotional use.

Media Services Advisory Committee

The next Media Services Advisory Committee meeting will be held on Tuesday September 27th from 8:30am until 11:30am at NEOnet. In the afternoon we will be holding a session to support our yearlong theme of Librarianship in the Digital Age. Additionally, following the meeting the NEOnet PC lab has been scheduled for use by librarians as an open lab or for resource sharing.
