In an effort to improve communication and ensure transparency a monthly organizational update will be emailed to members and posted on the NEOnet website.  This communication will be an expansion of the monthly updates already completed by the other service areas (i.e. Treasurers, Technology Directors, Student Services, and Media Specialists).    We will continue to update our website and Continuous Improvement plan on a monthly basis and publish our newsletter four times per year.   You can read the latest NEOnet news in the fall edition of the newsletter which will be available the first week of October.

Impact Group

We have recently hired The Impact Group, a third party marketing firm, to conduct a multi-phase stakeholder engagement to determine the needs and future vision of NEOnet. Our main goal is to gather important feedback on how we are doing in a number of areas from our key stakeholders. The Impact Group will be leading a series of focus groups that will allow us to determine what NEOnet’s focus should be moving forward.  For your convenience, we will hold a focus group on October 13, 2016 with all Superintendents and Treasurers from 11:00 a.m.. to 1 p.m.. at NEOnet. Lunch will be provided. During this focus group, we will ask you to provide input on what you believe are NEOnet’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.  Please mark your calendars to attend this focus group.

1st Floor Renovation Project

The May Assembly, upon recommendation of the Finance Committee and Board of Directors, approved the renovation of the first floor.   The renovation will add four meeting rooms, two PC labs, five offices, and thirteen cubicles and is expected to be completed on November 11, 2016.  This expansion of the lower level will allow the consortium to continue to add new services and staff as we continue our mission of improving student education through the use of technology.

Finance Committee

The Finance Committee is made up of Superintendents, Treasurers, and Technology Directors from member districts.  The Finance Committee ensures there are efficient resources to implement the goals and objectives of the organization.  The goals of the Committee for FY17 include the following;

  • Monitor the current financial status of the organization including the new district services account

  • Oversee the first floor renovation project

  • Maintain the 3 year forecast

  • Propose a new fee schedule for FY18

  • Review the FY18 budget

  • Update NEOnet’s program and district agreements

SunGard eFinancePLUS Implementation Update

On July 12th Cuyahoga Falls CSD, Cleveland Heights/University Heights, Summit County ESC, and NEOnet embarked on an adventure to convert from “Classic” State Software to SunGard eFinancePLUS. The Districts and ITC staff have been meeting twice a month with SunGard experts for three to four days at a time. During these trainings the group has been working through a variety of changes in accounting, payroll and exploring the enhancements of having a HR package. The anticipated Go Live is early January 2017.

If your district is interested in participating in future rounds, the MCOECN has developed an Order Form which provides the district with an estimated cost based on your ADM and selected package (Base or Full Bundle). By filling out and submitting the Order Form this merely holds a spot for you, it does not commit you to that round. If you are considering participating in one of the upcoming rounds please contact me at gdovin[at]neonet[dot]org.

Server and Storage Upgrade

The conversion to new servers and SSD storage was completed early this month.  The consortium is now running on state of the art Cisco UCS servers powered by 110TBs of Nimble SSD storage on the backend. This design deployed at both the primary site and the DR site allows for additional disaster recovery capabilities; thereby, reducing the risk of extended loss from any unforeseen incident.  It also allows for sub millisecond response times all applications hosted in our consortium cloud.

Technology Integration Specialist

NEOnet has recently hired Jacob “JC” Williams as an educational instructional technology integration specialist. JC’s job will be to work with the NEOnet districts to provide professional development and assistance on technology integration into the classroom.  This initiative is in collaboration with the Summit County Educational Services Center.    The Technology Integration Committee will meet on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 9:00 a.m.   Please contact me at gdovin[at]neonet[dot]org if you are interested in learning more about our Technology Integration initiative.
