Cherwell Helpdesk

NEOnet rolled out our new Cherwell helpdesk the week of October 20th! The new system boasts some great new features like opening and responding to tickets via email as well as a web based portal to view your tickets and known issues. You can create tickets by emailing our department email addresses. For student assistance please use studenthelp[at]neonet[dot]org, for EMIS assistance please use EMIShelp[at]neonet[dot]org. (FYI- The email must include a subject line).  You can also update your ticket by replying to one of the emails sent to you by the helpdesk system. Please note the emails will come from OCEN Support (support[at]oecn[dot]org). While we understand the ease and convenience of managing your tickets by email, you will not be informed of current known issues or be able to access your closed tickets unless you visit the help desk portal. The login for the helpdesk portal along with training resources can be found on our website at You can also view our website for a list of Cherwell Portal Webinars to learn more about the system.

DASL (Student Information) Update
With report card time right around the corner, the DASL team wanted to remind you of a few tips.

  • Make sure you run a couple tests to make sure formatting and comments are showing up correctly.

    • If formatting is off, make sure you margins are .1 not .5

    • If you aren’t getting comments to show make sure you have “Interim Report Card” checked as no.

  • Review your Honor Roll codes at Management>School Administration>Marks Administration Menu>Honor Rolls

  • Refresh GPAs to make sure you have the most accurate GPAs on the report cards. You can do this at Management>School Administration>Course History Administration> Gpa Sets

  • If you don’t want to include Quarter 2 absences make sure to change the Absence Cutoff Date to the last day of Quarter 1 on the r700

If you have any questions, please contact student services at studenthelp[at]neonet[dot]org.

EMIS Update:

Child Count Reminder: The data used for the federal child count this year will be October 31. This includes valid IEP’s as of October 31, 2014.

Calendar: Make sure you’re addressing Calendars, Sub-calendars and Attendance Patterns.  Some of the most common sub-calendars are those for seniors, pre-school and kindergarten students.

Civil Rights Data Collection (CRDC): The opening of the 2013-14 CRDC has been delayed from the original date in October to November 17, 2014.  Once the collection opens, districts will have 75 business days to complete the collection. Reminder that DASL has two Civil Rights reports avaialable under SIS-School-Civil Rights Report.

ODDEX: Users can now access the new Ohio District Data Exchange at the following site:  The login information for this site is the user’s ODE SAFE account and access is controlled by the OEDS roles assigned to your SAFE account. Users with Superintendent or Coordinator-EMIS role will have access by default

Current Available ODDEX functions:

  • Reviewing enrollment history for a student (includes current year enrollments for students also enrolled in your district this year, as well as the next enrollment of a student once they withdraw from your district)

  • Student Cross Reference (SCR) students submitted by your district can be viewed, but enrollment and other conflicts with other districts are not yet being generated

Functions not currently available in ODDEX:

  • Calendar review and approval

  • School Options Enrollment System (SOES) data review

  • Email notifications (email address and frequency can be configured, but emails are not yet being sent)

Training Opportunities: Be sure to check out our website or the listings above for the numerous upcoming EMIS training opportunites!

ProgressBook GradeBook Update

We have had some requests from districts that want to see a report that can show students that have averages of D or F. NEOnet created a report to show that information and the report is called *Students in Danger of Failing. You can select the grade threshold, so that you can see students whose overall average is below what you enter. If this is something that you feel could be of assistance to your district, feel free to contact us at studenthelp[at]neonet[dot]org.

Special Services Update

The Special Services Release 14.6.1 resolved many issues with Saving forms and Printing issues, including the following:

  • Improvements have been made to saving data. *Please note at this time, Special Services does not support working on multiple students at the same time via multiple tabs or multiple windows of the same browser.

  • Duplicate Related Services no longer display on the EMIS Form

  • View Archived Forms is now available.

  • Saving Forms and Printing Forms performance has been improved to make screens load and save data faster.

  • The User Banks now work correctly with the Rich Text formatting.

  • When you save a form on the Page Edit screen, a Please wait…..indicator now displays to let you know that the application is saving your data.
