DASL (Student Information) Update
There have been multiple new Report Builder reports added to Local>Report Builder. Two of the new reports include _StudentImmunizations and Staff_HQT.

_StudentImmunizations will give you a list of all students at the building level that has immunizations in the DASL. This report will show you the student number, school code, first and last name, grade, birthdate, status, waiver, immunization type and date, comments, and medical alerts.  This report is available for users that have the following RB_ security: Full Access, EMIS Coordinator, Secretary, and Nurse.

Staff_HQT must be run at District Level. This report will show State Staff ID, first and last name, building code, subject code, description, certification, HQT definition, Student Population, Curriculum, and Delivery Method.  This report is available for users that have the following RB_ security: Full Access, EMIS Coordinator, and Curriculum Director.

EMIS Update:

~Make sure your are flagging your districts Dual Credit courses. In DASL this is done on the General tab of the course, or the EMIS Override tab of the course section. The flag will help you use the new College Credit Management screen added at StudentInformation >Management > Ad-Hoc Updates > College Credit Management.This screen allows you to bulk update the correct college credit value for dual credit courses of students enrolled in dual credit courses during the school year in context. The GC extract now uses the updated college credit values for students in Period G of the school year in context. Note: when using the College Credit Management page and updating the College Credit values for Manually Entered Courses, you will be entering these values for the year in context. To add values for others years, you will need to change the year in context.

~ODE has added a new special education event type “NIEP – No IEP”. This event type will be used for the following situations:

     - Newly enrolled student with an expired IEP

     - Transfer IEP (district still reviewing)

     - Event missed in prior reporting period

~The manifest is available for first collection of Period S for traditional schools.

~Period L reporting expected to open first week of December.

~SOES flagging expected to be up and running as early as this week. Please make sure that contact information has been submitted in order to minimize the amount of flags from resident districts.

Extra Credit Assignments

1. Add an assignment and use the words Extra Credit as part of the description.

2. Make the total points for the assignment 0, so any student that chooses not to participate will not be penalized.

3. Select the Assignment Type: a. The Assignment Type will not matter if you are using a Straight Average as your Calculation Method for your grade book.

b. If you are using a Weighted Average as your Calculation Method for your Assignment Types, think carefully about which Assignment Type you choose. Do not create an Extra Credit Assignment Type if you are weighting your assignment type because the overall points for the Assignment Type will be 0. Any points that students would earn in this Extra Credit Assignment Type would not be recognized when averaging due to the 0 denominator. For example, it would be thought of 25 out of 0 or 25/0.

4. All marks given for an Extra Credit assignment with the total Points of 0 will display in red because the mark given will be more than the total Points for the assignment.

Additional Comments

Extra Credit can also be given to student s by giving a mark that is higher than the total Points possible for a particular assignment. For example, if an assignment is worth 20 points, a student can be given a mark higher than 20 such as 25, which will then count as 5 extra credit points. The 25 will display in red because it is more than the total Points for the assignment, but in this case, you would allow the extra credit.

Student Properties

When changes are made to a student’s primary contact or demographics, the data moves over to Special Services during nightly integration.  Once that change is reflected in Student Properties, user writing an IEP, ETR, ISP, 504 task need to do the following for the changes to take place on the Cover Page:

  1. Open up Student Properties, verify the change is there and save

  2. Open up the Cover Page, verify the data has moved over and save
