Library Services Update

New ISearch update - added to your OPAC welcome page

Now that students have been introduced to ISearch and are advancing through grades where they use this tool for research, we realized that we had not presented ISearch as an equally wonderful tool for finding titles in your local libraries.

State-wide use statistics tell us that in the INFOhio schools, users are choosing CAT and CAT Jr. quick searching for 85% of their searches - just entering a word or phrase and starting the search. This type of quick search is where ISearch excels. To encourage students to try ISearch for searching library titles, INFOhio has made a few changes to make it easier for students to get to ISearch.

* Added ISearch widget to the CAT/CAT Jr. welcome page

* Added buttons for ISearch, CAT and CAT Jr. on the ITC List of Schools (http://neonet.infohio.org/opac/)

* "Find Your Catalog" feature on the infohio.org website now points to ISearch

If you have bookmarked the CAT/CAT Jr. welcome page, you may need to refresh/reload your page to see these changes. We hope you like this added access for your students to get to ISearch (and can see it is not only an excellent research tool, but a great place to start when looking for titles in their local library collection) while still having the older familiar interfaces available as needed.

Specific documentation about ISearch features and use details can be found in the online handbook: PATRON ACCESS section / ISEARCH documentation. https://www.infohio.org/library/workflows-handbook/category/isearch

Technology Integration Services

NEOTech is a conference is designed for teachers, administrators, and anyone interested in the use of various teaching and learning technologies in grades K-12 on March 6 & 7 at the Huntington Convention Center in Cleveland. Best of all – its free! This two day event is broken up with Day One being dedicated to technology integration for educators interested in improving the classroom experience with the use of technology. Day Two is designed as a leadership conference catering to district administrators’ needs with topics of security, policy and emerging technologies that will pave the way for future endeavors.

We have been very fortunate to have had so many wonderful attendees in the past but this year’s conference is especially special to us. This year marks the 10th anniversary of NEOTech. We couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate this occasion than to bring new friends and old friends together. We want to celebrate with you and continue to grow our mission of improving student education through the use of technology.
