Library Services Update

BlueCloud Circulation and BlueCloud Cataloging

SirsiDynix and INFOhio have announced the latest update to the WorkFlows library software. BlueCloud is a cloud-based product currently in testing with users across Ohio. BlueCloud Circulation has a planned release before the end of the 2018-19 school year, with Cataloging following early 2019-20. These products are ideal for Chromebook districts, as they don’t require any software downloads.

Users nervous about the change can rejoice, as SirsiDynix has no plans to discontinue the WorkFlows desktop product. As a matter of fact, it will still be needed by BlueCloud users, as there is currently no report module available for that product line.

Previous online products MobileCirc and StaffWeb are still available as well, although StaffWeb is no longer being updated.

If you have any questions or concerns about BlueCloud, please contact libraryhelp[at]neonet[dot]org.

Technology Integration Services

Tech Integration Team Update

The NEOnet Technology Integration team has been continuing our push for In-District Professional Development sessions and we are happy to say that we have done over 20 sessions at subscribing school district buildings this school year alone. We are also starting to push for our districts to use us for in-building one-on-one technology integration coaching. Coaching is not the same as a large session PD. Technology coaching is where a Technology Integration Specialist works with a teacher in their classroom before or after school, during a free period, or even observing them while teaching. Edutopia has a terrific article on how schools have used Technology Coaches. Too often have we heard from teachers that they enjoyed what was discussed in a large group PD, but when it comes to actually integrating those tools or methods into a lesson, they don’t know where to start. The Technology Integration team has started to brainstorm how this might work:

-Technology Coach schedules day(s) with Tech/Curriculum Director

-Clarify time slots and locations

-Time slots can be regular increments or based on school’s bell schedule

-Tech Coach sends Tech/Curriculum Director an email with info on how coaching works, and a Google Form sign up link

-Draft of Google Form sign up for Tech Coaching

-Tech/Curriculum Director emails out Form to teachers who sign up for time with Tech Coach

-Tech Coach emails Teachers to confirm time, introduce themselves, ask about their goals, etc.

-If there are any gaps in the day, Tech Coach can be in central location “on call” so teachers can come to them or have them visit/observe classes

-Tech Coach can create quick way for a teacher to call the Tech Coach for help

-Tech Coach spends day(s) at school building going to appointments or having impromptu sessions
