Special Notes:

-Mark your calendars! The NEOnet Educational Operating Comittee meeting is scheduled for April 15th. At this meeting we will have three student online registration forms vendors coming to demonstrate their products to those who are interested (ComDoc-JobRouter, InfoSnap, and Registration Gateway). Time slots for each vendor will be announced at a later date but we plan to have the meeting from 9:00 am -1:00 pm with lunch provided. Stay tuned for more details!

-Software Answers (creators of the ProgressBook Suite) will be conducting a one day ProgressBook Suite Retreat for district users on April 14th. DASL (Student Information) Update

There are many changes coming with the new 14.7 DASL release. A couple of the changes involve student contacts.

First, there is now an “Authorized to Pickup” option added to student contact records to indicate who can pick up a student from school. The new option is included under Contact Flags on the Add Student Contact and Edit Student Contact windows. If selected, it also displays beside the contact on the Student Contacts Summary screen. In all cases, only personal (not professional) contacts include this option.

Secondly, there is an added field of “Legal District of Residence Change Date” that was added to Add Student Contact and Edit Student Contact windows for personal (non-professional) contacts only. This field is included on the FG record for community schools only to indicate the effective date when the student’s legal guardian’s district of residence changed for SOES reporting to EMIS.

2015-2016 School Year Initialization

Please be aware that if you have not completed SYI for the 15/16 school year there are only a few trainings left. The remaining trainings are listed above and if you need to get this completed please sign up for a training on our website. We are also available to help during open labs. When registering for an open lab please add in the comments “need to work on SYI” so we can prepare.

EMIS Update:

Calendar Collection – Initial FY15

This collection period will be closing on February 27, 2015.   Please make sure that you have submitted your calendar prior to that deadline. To assist you in verifying your calendar data there is a DASL report builder report called _MasterCalendarEmisDays or a CalendarDisplay report in the Data Collector. Your CalendarDisplay report should reflect the total number of educational hours students are scheduled to attend. The total hours should decrease with each snow day or shortened day you report on the Master Calendar on days with EMIS Exceptions.

New Reports Available in SDC

There are now two new reports available in the Secure Data Center. These can be found by clicking on the Local Report Card folder, which is once again visible. There you will see only the two new reports: District Details and School Details. These reports include three new staff measures as well as information regarding the numbers of students taking advantage of school choice options.

Updated FY15 SOES End of Year Student Data (S) Collection Request - v2

An updated version (2) of the FY15 SOES End of Year Student Data Collection Request is now available. This collection is specific to Community Schools and STEM Districts. Updated Version Requires Running a new prepare of the collected data and Replacing any data already submitted to ODE with a new submission.

ProgressBook GradeBook Update 

The Assignment Maintenance screen lets you view a list of your assignments for a particular class/reporting period combination and perform basic maintenance from one screen. You can perform the following tasks on this screen:

  • Filter the list of assignments by selecting the assignment type you want to view in the Assignment Type drop-down list.
  •  Display only deletable assignments by clicking the Show Deletable button.

Note: Assignments that have Marks; are Shared, Excluded or Missing; or are linked to a VirtualClassroom (VC) activity are not deletable.

  • Delete assignments by selecting the check box in the Delete column that corresponds to the assignment(s) you want to delete, then clicking Delete “x” Assignments.
  • Change your selections for posting marks to the web and/or posting the assignment to the homework planner by selecting or deselecting the appropriate check box(es) in the Post Marks and Post Planner columns.

Note: As soon as you select or deselect a check box in either of these columns, the assignment automatically saves, and a confirmation message displays.  Return to the Class Dashboard by clicking the Dashboard link. View the Assignment Details screen by clicking the name of the assignment.

 

Special Services Update

The upcoming Special Services software release 14.7.0 will bring long awaited changes to the Open Task page edit screen with the following two items:

1. The Page Edit screen now detects unsaved changes on the forms when the user closes or navigates away from the form. A new Confirmation message prompts the user to save changes.

2.The Page Edit screen now displays the Rich Text formatting toolbar in a fixed position at the top of the form.  It no longer covers up text.
