DASL (Student Information) Update

As of the 14.5 release, the new discipline package is now available for DASL and GradeBook. There have been many enhancements added to the discipline package. Including these two since we last presented the package in the spring:

  • Ability to search for all students in GradeBook, regardless if they are in a teacher’s class.
  • Discipline letter template upload to allow users to print a customizable discipline letter for each student.
To learn about all the new discipline enhancements sign up for a Discipline Training listed above by emailing studentservices[at]neonet[dot]org

EMIS Update

Calendar Training:  Make sure you’re addressing Calendars and Attendance Patterns.  If you are not attending session on August 26th look for Open Labs / Training Sessions and email information on set-up.

Retention and New Students: For all grades EXCEPT 3rd grade we do not need to report a retention reason for newly enrolled students.  Will need to evaluate 3rd / 4th grade students at enrollment.  If students did not meet the 3rd grade guarantee criteria, we need to report their retention and retention code OR their reason for promotion.

Student Cross Reference: 1) Frequently look at your students without SSID numbers.  You will need all students to have SSID numbers to load them into the Student Cross Reference.  2) Complete Student Reporting Collection (S) [out of EMIS Menu in DASL] to move all students into the Data Collector. 3) Manually Collect, Prepare, Review and Certify/Submit your Student Cross Reference (FY15) in the Data Collector (At this point we are unable to schedule collections that submit to ODE due to the requirement of clicking to Certify each submission.)

Community Schools Note:

You need to complete SOES Beginning of Year Student Collection (FY15) – currently these continue to say “Pending Processing” in the data collector. No definitive date on when that process will happen.

Pre-ident File layouts in DASL:

  • OAA / OGT pre-id export, continue to use the Export feature in DASL, choose the Pearson Educational Measurement Export, pick your test type
  • KRA pre-id export was released in the 14.5.2 release.
  • DASL State Support has received the new layout for Ohio Science and Social Studies and Ohio Alternate Assessment Pre-ID’s which will be needed for the 14/15 school year. They are working on adding it to the product however we do not have an exact date as to when it will be available.

ProgressBook GradeBook Update

Below are a couple of reminders for your teachers setting up their gradebook for the upcoming school year.

On the Teachers Home Page, have teachers verify that their email is up to date. Under Administration, click on “Update email Address”, after verifying or enter correct email. Click UPDATE

Hide Students in Class Roster Use the Hide option to prevent students who are no longer in a class as indicated by the red W from appearing in the class roster. You cannot delete a student from the class roster if the student has assignments, report card grades, period attendance, or comments in your grade book. Once you have hidden a student from the class roster, the name will no longer appear on attendance, assignment, or other screens for that class.

1. On the Class Dashboard, click the Update Roster link below the list of Students.

2. On the Class Roster screen, click the check box in the Hide column next to a student.

3. Click Save. At any time, you can return to the Class Roster screen and deselect the Hide option next to a student to display that student on the roster again.

Special Services Update

The 14.5.0 Special Services release has many new changes as follows:

  1. Added Rich Text Formatting to many of the forms.
  2. Removal of Adobe LiveCycle. Special Services no longer uses Adobe Live Cycle. PDF forms are generated and print as before, but when you complete tasks and print forms you are no longer required to connect to the Adobe Live Cycle server.
  3. Default School Year 2014-2015 updated to New Task and EMIS Module screens
  4. The ability to print individual blank forms
